Before he met his death, MUCHAI had called for the freezing of COTU’s sh. 190 billion

Tuesday February 10, 2015 – On November 10, 2014, slain Kabete MP, George Muchai, called for the freezing of Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) accounts claiming that there was misappropriation of funds by senior COTU officials.
Muchai, who was then COTU’s Deputy Secretary General, said some senior officials at the trade union were using money in the accounts to finance their lavish/ posh lifestyles.
He mentioned COTU Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, as one of the officials who were misappropriating funds which total to over Sh 190 billion.
Muchai said Atwoli had 14 accounts in Kenya and abroad where he stashes money meant for the trade union.
The yearly deductions that COTU gets total to Sh 190 billion but Atwoli and his group has been misappropriating the money by going outside the country with their female and male lovers.
It is after this expose that Muchai fell out with senior COTU officials who were threatening him with death.
Muchai’s wife, Susan Muchai, on Tuesday told detectives that her husband had had differences with the COTU boss for the last six months!
